Speaker removal question 2000 silverado

I have a 2000 silverado. I got the door panel off and now I want to get the speakers out. How do you actually take the 6 1/2" speaker out. It doesn't look like it is screwed in or anything. I am probably going to just put in another 6 1/2" and not do components. Do I need to do any drilling to mount the new speaker? Can a regular speaker run off the deck or do I need to hook up an amp to that as well? Thanks!

Re: Speaker removal question 2000 silverado

There should be a plastic/fabric grill sorta thing holding the speaker in place. You can take it out by pressing the top and bottom tabs together and pulling out. The grill and speaker might be glued together together but you can use a blowdryer to heat them up and seperate them. Put your new speaker into the door and clip the grill in over top of it and it will hold. Yes you can run speakers off ur deck.
