Big Problem

*'98 Grand Prix GT...not supercharged...regular series 2 engine... 160k miles on it*

ok i have a big problem on my hands here.... about a week ago i was in a car accident and the woman that hit me on my left rear tire/fendor... she hit my tire just right and it threw my whole entire axel off... my left tire is pushed in a little bit and kind of disfigured... and my right tire is pushed out a little bit and also disfigured... i did drive it home from the accident but it was like i was on ice the entire time and the wheels squeeled when i hit 25 mph... the steering wheel u have to hold like ur turning left the entire time... i had a flatbed come pick it up from my house and i havnt heard back from the mechanic yet... is there any advice on what could be wrong with the car? is the axel gone maybe? is the car toast?

reply asap this is tearin me up
i really loved my GP

Re: Big Problem

There is no axle, it has seperate control arm/links and struts, no one here can see the car, leave it to your mechanic and her Ins. Co.

Re: Big Problem

a 98 GT with a 160k on... i don't wanna depress you but, i think your car is totalled honestly... sounds to me like there would have to be a lot of rear end work done, plus 2 new rims (which arn't cheap) and the value of your car is probably only around 3500 depending on where you live...

Re: Big Problem

It sounds like the rear lateral links are bent, which aren't really expensive, but the rims and spindles are $$$. You may be able to get reconditioned wheels, or ones from a salvage yard. I would say the car isn't totalled, unless there is extensive body panel damage too.
