CD storage (contians small pics)

Ok, I need somewhere to store CD's in my car.

Im not keeping real ones in there, just copys. That way if anyone does ever break in all the get are some cheap copys. (and if anyone ever breaks into the house I still have the copys as back ups in the car).

Anyway, I dont like only taking a few CD's into the car at a time as I never know that far ahead what im going to want to listen to.
I used to keep my tapes in the open in a tapes cases, but lets face it, thieves are simply not interested in stealing tapes.
My CDs iv been keeping hidden in the glovebox, but its not really big enough.

So, what I thought is:
Fit a CD rack with a hinged cover under the glove box.
Theres a lot of room under there, and Im sure it wouldn't be that hard?

Below are some pic's of the inside, the question is how to make it?

Buy a CD rack and cut it to fit? and then what do I attach it to?
And more importantly will it look stock enough that no ones going to break in to investigate?

I need your help guys!

The MM is there for scale.

well i just keep my cds in a cd wallet, and push it under one of the seats in my car.

When my dads wifes car was broken into there was stuff under the seats, and the thieves didn't even check under the seat.

here's an idea. buy a cd case and when you go inside, take the cds with you. thieves dont like to steal non existant cds. if there's nothing to steal thives wont stop at your car.

I have one of those metal CD Cases that holds like 30 CDs. I just out it behind my seat and it kinds of wedges itself under there and it doesn't slide around or anything.

If you don't need to carry all your cds at once, why not get one of those cd cases that attaches to your sun visor? I have seen ones that hold 12, or 24 cds... put one on both visors, and when your visors are flipped up, they will be out of view...

Get a Kenwood "music keg"!

The problem I have with CD cases is that they tend to scratch the CD's (even though they advertise that it doesn't), and recordable CD's are more affected by scratches, so I would skip that idea. But it is a great way to store alot of CD's in a small space.

So, I'd go with your original idea. You can by a case-logic plastic CD rack, then just make some kind of cover for it and mount it with some brackets (I don't know exactly what to attach it too). I don't think you'd have to cut the rack at all (and doing so would probably ruin the rack's stability.

Thank you ci5ic!
Your the only one who actualy read what I wrote.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. There plenty of cheap plastic holders avliable. I guess Ill jsut have to measure the the max size I can get in there and go find one.

Thanks for making me think it might be a good idea.

ok if u dont want the visor thing, id make something custom in my glove-box, make it hold like 100cds in that lil space, then get a lock on it so noone can see whats inside.

Find this optional console for the SiR. Unfortunately mine has a broken cover - but I simply have a wallet with my CDs in it that fits the gap nicely.

BTW - if you find one... I need a replacement - otherwise I'm going to have to swap one exactly the same as yours into the SiR (which was factory in the Aussie Civics.

I'm pretty sure a wallet slips into the console you have moppie - it did in my GL.

yeah, I really dont like the wallets. Thier do hold a lot of CD's, but as was said, they are also very good at scratching CDR's, which is exactly what im useing.

I like the idea of being able to open a flap or draw or something and having say 30 CD's all just sitting there in thier cases.
Then I dont have worry about something else to carry inside, or to hide somewhere under the seats.
