Question Roof Rack

Just a question to you guys out there that have the 'factory' Xterra roof rack. I was interested in getting that new Calmini deal for my truck but I have an "aftermarket" (like the Jeep Ckerokee) roof rack. Are there threaded bolt-holes on the roof, or are they just screwed to the roof supports?

they are bolted to the existing roofrack, I think is what you are asking. The only one available that will bolt TO the roof itself, AFAIK, is the Calmini. I think they are redesigning the front to have a bend to better match the lines of the Xterra.

I am having a custom rack done... which bolts to the place where the stock rack bolts, thus, eliminating the stock rack from the equation.

Roof Rack

I guess I put it the wrong way, I have one of those cheapo plastic slider racks, not one of those high-speed Kargomaster ones. I just wanted to know if the Calmini rack muonted in the same holes as the Nissan aluminum rack.

no drill needed. but do get the best T shaped massive Torx driver you can. the bolts that hold the roofrack down are heavily coated woth Lock Tite. and I ended up having to drill one out. the Torx wouldn't remove it, stripped the threads, and all 4 torx we tried wouldn't remove it either. go find a big T shaped one for 15.00 from a good hardware store. trust me, it's worth it.

You've been down that road... you know where it leads....
