Rear Spoiler Removal?

Hi. New to the board. I own a 1998 GT and a 2004 SE.
The clearcoat has faded pretty bad on the spoiler (on the 98) and I want to take it off and refinish it.
I know there are 2 bolts that can be reached from inside the trunk and it appears that the only thing holding it down after that is some sort of double-sided tape.
I want to remove the spoiler without screwing up my trunk or pulling up a chunk of paint.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Rear Spoiler Removal?

you are on the right track with taking off the bolts and there is double sided tape that holds it down as well. The best way is to pry it up a little along the edges, once you get it up a little take a razor blade and carefully cut the double sided tape. Also what i used was some googone to soften the tape and wear down the adhesive. Good luck
