Governor gear replacement in transmission.

Problem with the governor gear in the transmission of my 1994 grand am. So I'm told. Would like to repair this myself. Where would I find the location of it & how do I get it out?

Can you give a better description of what your car is doing. I have never heard of a governor gear in a car transmission.
