can you say customer service?

I was just floored (amazed for all of you not from eastern, PA) with the quality of customer service I got today. I ordered a head unit with mounting kit from crutchfield.com I'd say it's about 2 weeks ago now. I filled out a survey they sent me 2 days ago on quality of the kit.

When installing the kit I had some difficulty getting the universal mounting kit to fit. I noted this in the survey and mentioned what was wrong. So today crutchfield contacted me and asked if they could pass along my comments. This is the first part that I was floored at. They took time to make sure my comments made it to who counted.

I figured end of story thats great. About 4 hours later I get another email this time from the company copied to myself and crutchfield's tech that forwarded the problems. He wanted to talk to me on the phone. So I left him a message and in about 20 minutes he called me back with a tech that I guess designed the kit and himself. We had a good 25 minute conversation on my problems with the kit and they actually plan to fix it so that it will fit fine and be much easier to install for the end users.

I know that sounds like something so small for a company to do but I honestly havn't seen that happen well ever in my lifetime. I knew going into it that crutchfield was caring ( I didn't know how much. But then to hear back from American International (the mounting kit company) I was just floored.

Why can't more retailers be like this? I know I pay a little more (when you don't use coupons) for crutchfields stuff. But with service like that it's well worth it to me.

I realize this is kinda off topic and I apologize but I just wanted to let you know that if you are thinking of installing a car stereo yourself (and are wary)it's worth it to pay a bit extra on the unit for crutchfields, kits, instructions and customer service. I've done it before and went back because I found a coupon from when I bought my undercar neons. I was just completely floored.

note: I dont' work for or am I asked to do this by either company. I just thought it was great.

Re: can you say customer service?

I'm also pretty shocked they went that far with it. Good story though, nobody disputes crutchfields service and quality, just their prices. And I know they can have deals here and there, but for the most part they are expensive compared to other places. But, they have a market for it, as we all can see. They know what they are doing, and they do it well.

Re: can you say customer service?

I have bought from crutchfield a couple of times, I was very satisfied with the quality of the customer service and their Tech Support is unbeatable. Crutchfield is a great company to deal with.

Re: can you say customer service?

lol sorry maybe "floored" is a local thing. Usually it's used in things like. Wow that floored me. Like made my jaw hit the floored I was so surprised I guess?

Even if there is no exact definition know that floored is a good thing in this sense and when you press down your accelerater all the way.

Re: can you say customer service?

they have great customer service! The prices are way to high though, in comparision to other online companies which sell the same thing...

I guess the customer service out weighs the high price, eh...?

Re: can you say customer service?

Customer service like that costs a TON of money. That's the reason it's so hard to find. It's not a bad idea to pay the extra money, not just for the CS for yourself, but it sends a message to retailers that CS is important to poeple. Summit is another retailer I love to use. I don't even bother to look at the prices, I know the shit will be here on time.

Re: can you say customer service?

you also have to look at do the other vendors give you everything you need? For instance my head unit came along with a wiring harness, detailed instructions to disassemble my dash (didn't need those), and the mounting kit.

I priced the same thing at best buy (not only was the head unit like 50 dollars more expensive and I have no clue why that was) but the wiring harness was 15, and the mount kit was 20. So I usually try to factor that into the price.

Since I pay the bills it's also easier for me to get all that crap from one place. Only one thing to put in the ledger. So all those combined with customer service is what sells me. Plus I always refer my friends there, when they use my referal code they get 20 bucks off, and then if their purchase is over i think it's 200 I get 20 dollars off my next order.

So if you play it right it can become really cheap. Otherwise I will agree for most things they are slightly higher priced then other online vendors.

I won't buy my cd changer there because they want 300 bucks for it for example. i can pick up the same changer on ebay for 80. I didn't even bother to check in the stores. But im sure it's probably only around 200 or so in stores.

best buy is a big rip off when it comes to car audio simply because of their huge retail location they have a lot of staff and leasing money to pay, thus they charge high...

Re: can you say customer service?

nice car yellow spyder. I use to work in customer service at best buy. Audio discounts were great. But after you buy everythin you want the job gets old fast. I hated getting yelled at by angry ny/nj/pa people (we were close to all three states on the edge of PA). It got old quickly...

Good place as in the company just customers sucked
