99 Suburban Dies While Driving

I thought that this problem was fixed, but it happened again today, this time while accelerating (as opposed to all previous times when it happened during deceleration). The service engine light has been on for a while with the O2 codes, but I haven't done anything about them (i.e. tested or fixed the O2 sensor). When the engine dies, it's like the computer is being reset. I say this because several of the dash lights flash and the service engine light goes off. The service engine light comes back on after a while. This makes me think that there is a short somewhere, but I don't know where a common place would be for this type of reaction (i.e. the computer reseting). Sometimes the engine dies completely sometimes not. When it does, I can slip the truck into neutral and restart. Any help would be appreciated.

I have 99 burb, it was doing the same dying problem. I looked months for this problem. You could start the truck some morning and drive forward for 10' to 1/2 mile and it would die, then it might restart right away or wait 15-20 mins then start it. One day went to leave a restaurant and it did not start. I went to check the battery and found the positive lug came loose and the cable end was burned up also. I replaced battery and +cable been run fine since. Let me know if this is your fix.

Viper, I think you nailed the problem. Died in a busy / dangerous intersection the other day. I was able to get it to a nearby parking lot. The positive cable was a little loose (just a little). I bought a new lug, cleaned up all of the corrosion, and cranked down on it pretty good. Since there are two cables coming from the battery I suspect that only one shorted at a time (thus causing what appears to be a VCM reset. Hopefully this will take care of my problem, now onto the passlock, steering slippage, and power door lock problems :-)
