2002 Wiper Problem

It snowed the other day and I thought I had gotten all the ice off of the windshield and used the wipers to get the light snow off. A piece of ice had pinned the driver’s wiper blade in position, so only the passenger one moved. I cleaned that piece out and thought it would move, but not so much...

Now whenever I try and wipe the windshield, the passenger one moves correctly and the driver one moves about 6". Not wanting to break the plastic screws without knowing where I will be going, should I be looking at a broken linkage, or just get a new motor?

Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

no, you'ld be looking at the linkage, there is only 1 motor, so if the pass is moving fine, then the motor is fine, so id check the linkage.

I had that problem too. What I did was popping the plastic cap on the joint between wiper arm and motor and then tightening up the bolts.

Re: 2002 Wiper Problem

My 2003 is doing a similar thing. The driver side arm is moving fine but the passenger side goes up about have way than snaps forcefully back in the "holder" that it sits in when the wipers are off. Any suggestions?

Re: 2002 Wiper Problem

years ago my ex's car had this problem and it turned out to be a bent linkage. I would watch the blades/linkages while they are operating and try to see exactly what is malfunctioning.

What is the best way to remove the plastic cap? Whould I just pry it off with a knife/screwdriver?
