Trailblazer Wont Start!!

Yesterday i stopped at the gas station to put some gas in the car and when i went to go turn the car back on it would not start. I turned the key and the dash lit up but nothing else happened. It was not even trying to start. I checked the fuse box under the hood just to see if it was related to the ignition and the ignition E fuse was blown. I tried replacing that fuse with another 10 volt fuse just to get myself home but each time it blew when i turned the keys to start the car....

Has anyone had this problem before? What can i do? I am dreading the thought of having to take this to a mechanic or the dealer...

You would need a comprehensive wiring diagram or factory shop manual to fool with this was any work done to the truck recently?

no work has been done except for about three months ago we had to get a new instrument cluster...

This may not be your problem, but I had the same symptoms and just got my car out of the dealership. I just posted the following thread on trailvoy.com:

" Problem solved. I eventually took the TB to the dealer. I was told the problem was the ignition switch. They changed the switch and there's no more problems. They also replaced the rear door locks at no charge due to a recall.

** I find it hard to believe the ignition switch went out on an 2003 TB. I've never had an ignition switch replaced on any of my vehicles. The longest I've kept a car was abt 10 years (1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type) and even then never replaced the ignition switch. Is this a common problem with the TB's?** "

I've had two key switches go out... The dash lights come on, but nobodies home.... I've heard the theory that having too many keys on your key ring can contribute to this happening. After two key switches, my car key is detachable from my key ring and I drive with the car key only.

The TB does not use transponder type keys, so the additional keys are not an issue in that sense.

HERE"S AN UPDATE ON MY PROBLEM!!!

For some strange reason, Chevy, had put starter, blinkers, and conditiong, on the same circuit. So therefore looking through the problem that i had with not being able to start my car and the fuse kept blowing investigating under the fuse panal, a wire had melted. Ultimately ending up all the way at the brake switch also controls the cruise control ( another item on this one circuit!) WHy the same circuit for all of these? who knows?!

SO after 10 hours of my own time fishing for a solution, who knows what a dealer would have charged.

I was able to fix all of this by rewiring the brake switch all the way back up through the other connects they feed to and then back to the fuse box.

Good work! thanks for the update. What year TB? Any idea what caused that circuit to over-amp in the first place? failed relay maybe?
