I am searching for tires for my car which is a 2002 Mercury Sable GS and a few sites ask me the make model year and then it asks me if its a V6-182ci 3.0L F/l Vin S or V6-182ci 3.0L F/l Vin U
What the hell is Vin S and Vin U?

Re: What is V6-182ci 3.0L F/l Vin S or Vin U?
the VIN S is the 3.0 24V DOHC Duratec engine
the VIN U is the 3.0 OHV Vulcan engine If you open up your hood and your engine looks like this - http://www.edmunds.com/media/roadtes...on.eng.175.jpg then you have a Vin S, if not, vin U

Re: What is V6-182ci 3.0L F/l Vin S or Vin U?
All GS series Sables came with the Vulcan. All LS series came with the Duratec. I guess they reserved the higher horsepower engine for the expensive cars.
But the Vulcan is the more reliable engine--go figure. |
