Bad Response

When I step on the gas to take off my truck stutters a bit. Kinda makes a sound like a deisel. Is it or could it be A filter? or injector?

Re: Bad Response

oh yeah and a full take of gas recently only 160 miles. When I filled up it took 16.21 gallons figured 1.5 gallons in it. So say 18 gallons all together. WTF is going on......................

Re: Bad Response

GB, When was the last time you did a tune up?? It could be a couple of things that a tune up will take care of.
I think that BLT is aying that you need to clean the MAF. It has been discussed numerous times on the forum. That is another possibility, when the Mass Air Flow sensor gets dirty it screws with the readings of how mucha air is flowing through the intake and adjusts the fuel flow based on erroneous, or bad, information. The cleaning is really easy, just be careful with the filaments, and use a soft brush and a cleaner that doesn't leave a residue - like a brake cleaner.
Another thing you might want to check is the throttle body, it could be sticking because of build up around the butterfly. A good cleaning with throttle body or carb cleaner and a soft brush will take care of that.
Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Bad Response

GET A TUNE UP. I went from getting 11-12 miles per gallon to getting 16 miles per gallon in my Blazer. Its amazing how much it went up from just one tune up. The throttle response improved dramatically as well

Re: Bad Response

I would say the MAF to..but you also want to change the fuel filter if you run the gas tank low...picks up alot of dirt in the filter. Also some dry gas might help to..I see snow on the ground and if you get alot of moisture in the tank from running below half..you could be adding water to your gas. Which could cause a misfire such as yours..hope it helps..Ej P/S are you saying your gas gage won't work? I know alot of problems the blazer have is bad Altenators..are you experiancing any electrical probs? I have heard the fuel pumps to go out alot in these to..my son has a 97 and has had 3 put in and they are not cheap. His new would cost about $350.00 and that is not installed. You have to drop the gas tank on those! He managed to get his from the junk yard for $150.00 and put it in himself. Good luck ..and I hope you solve it..let us know..k

Re: Bad Response

GB, Check your PM . When you did your intake gasket , did you have any sign of leakage in the nut kit area ? Do you have a washable air filter on it ? K&n ,etc.. The MAF may have oil coated on it . If so , As they described will read bad info . Rob
