98 power steering leaking.

There is a power steering leak on my 98 town n country that i cant seem to find. The tranny is leaking all over so its hard to track down this leak. The fluid lines from the pump to the rack unit are routed right past the exhaust. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a where a common leak is and if its at those hoses.

Re: 98 power steering leaking.

My '98 was leaking at the reservoir attached to the pump, it was rusted through. It's on the passeger side.

Its probably coming from the reservoir itself , these are known to be become porous and start leaking right thru the metal housing . Had to replace mine on our 96 after like 5 years . Specially common in high salt areas . At least a couple hundred bucks to fix.

Re: 98 power steering leaking.

By the way, I was able to patch mine with JB putty. It's held for 4 months.

Re: 98 power steering leaking.

Get a couple cans of brake cleaner or go down to the car wash and clean off that area so you can track things down. Could be a hose or the pump.
