stall

i pulled into gas station and filled up and when i went to start car and write # of gal. in book the car just stalled. ive noticed it went into a funny idle. not sure wut caused this. should i really wory about this csue this is the first time it stalled for me after having all of these problems?
my bro in his 85 celebrity pulled into samn gas station and it stalled on him a lot and it happed to stall on him pulling in so he left it. he filled it up and went back out to start it up and it didnt start so he opens the hood and the engine was on fire. lol he walks a little casual to get the fire extinguasher and pushes car out of way of pumps and pushes it over the spot they fill it up at. lol he had to restart it after it stalled i guess but it must have been a short that started it on fire. lol just befor that we pulled into someplace and it usto leak exhaust casue rings were shot and the whole inside of the car was full of smoke. we had to drill a hole in the air filter to let all the smoke out. ive been saying befor ive been haveing idleing problems. i just need to know if it was just csue it was cold, my dad took highway home and it was pretty warm. i know it happens alot in older cars. we were thinking it would be the air sensor. could this be? that map sensor could be at fault too im thinking.
