Exclamation key pad

Does anyone know how to fix the the remote key pad that unlocks the doors etc... It stopped working like two months ago and I have no idea how to go about fixing it. If anyone has any idea, I would greatly Appreciate it.

Re: key pad

If you take it off the key ring, there is a little space at the bottom where you can slide a dime in and pry the top and the bottom apart. Once it's apart, you can replace the battery. That should solve the problem.

I just had the same scenario happen to me this week. I took the unit and had it tested to see if it was transmitting a signal and it was not. I am currently ordering one on ebay. I too tried a new battery and still did not work. Most likely the transmitter is dead. Dealer gets about $100 for the key fob and another $45 to program, get one off of ebay for abot $13 and same some cash, if the car is a 01 or newer a dealer will have to program the keypad for you. Good luck.

Re: key pad

I had the same problem on a Mazda van - I found instructions to reprogram the fob ( opening doors 3x times etc) which worked - So I'd say you have to reset it. My only problem was that at first I had the new battery upside down. The correct way for my fob was '+" side down. Look for Alero instructions . Mazda Dealers wanted over $100 to do this by them.
