Blower Motor

I have a 2000 Tracker. Most recently the fan started blowing debris into the vehicle (leaves and pine needles etc.) and creating a low humming noise, most likely due to the debris build up.

Does anyone know how and where to gain access to this blower fan area to clean out the debris?

Your help would be appreciated!

You can get to the Blower Motor by removing the plastic panel below the glove box . remove the glove box door by carefully squezzing the tabs so that you can see better. If you have to remove the blower, there are 3 screws that hold it in place. The rear screw will be difficult to get too but with a flexable extension and maybe a mirrow it can be done. Mine keeps blowing fuses so I replaced it and it continues to blow fueses.

Yep - My fan blew but it was shaking the housing.
I took the fan out (3 screw) and there was tons of mouse nest in the squirrel cage fan.
I thought the fan was shot. Saved $74
But I still only have High and Med High - No low and Med low.

Sounds like your blower resistor may be shot. Youll have to pull the glove compartment for this. You can check it with a voltmeter easily after you pull the assembly put your voltmeter in resistance mode and check the resistance between the terminals high and M1 and L. There should be some resistance there, if so check the switch by the plug you pulled from the block. Check for continuity between the pink/black wire and the pink wire and ther pink/blue wire and pink wire. Im hoping its only the resistor block since that is so easy to change. I think autozone may have a replacement for you.

I believe I have removed the 3 screws but still can't get the cover off to get to the motor. What am I missing?
