90 Accord engine hesitation...
I have a 90 Accord with 197000 miles...recently I had a bad oil leak problem from the oil pressure sending unit...it leaked for 3 months before I foudn the problem. I repalced it, but just before I repalced it....i started getting a check engine light....and now at around 1800-2300 rpm the engine hesitates and if I let it stay there...the engine back fires....i have to step on the gas a bit more for it to stop.....
ANyone had this problem before? Oh I am getting 2 codes...43 and 17, but i do not have the book that tells me waht these codes mean. Help!! |

Re: 90 Accord engine hesitation...
17 is your Vehicle speed sensor. It is covered in teh FAQ, so check that out.
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=441643 43 is a defective or malfunctioning fuel supply system. 1)This I'd start with replacing the fuel filter if it has more than 60k on it. Also dump in some STP or equivalent brand fuel system cleaner next time you fill up. 2) Check out the vacuum lines running to your fuel pressure regulator. Fix/replace any vacuum leaks. 3) fuel pump. Although they generally don't just die. They usually fail slowly and make an audible whining sound as they are going out. Perhaps also replacing the fuel pressure regulator. Let us know any progress.
