Headers?

I have a '92 5.0 305 9c1. I plan on getting a new exhaust system, and want the best gain in performance possible. I keep hearing people mention headers. I still dont completely understand what they are, what they do, and if they're worth getting when I install my new exhaust. Im thinking of sticking with the single exhaust and getting a high flow cat, and dynomax muffler. Do I need headers, and do they even work on the single exhaust setup? Thanks.

i think they would be worth it, i run them, its just a matter of finding them for your year and engine, most are for 94+ lt1, headers let your engine breath better, i wouldnt waste you time with a single kit, i would get true duals and mufflers like flow masters

these are what headers look like,

These are what your exhaust manifolds look like, NOT EXACT

Re: Headers?

Yeah, headers are nice. I have some on my truck, and I wish I had money to get them on my car. They make a pretty big difference in performance. And single exhaust is a waste of time. I don't know why anyone would run a v-8 without true dual.

Re: Headers?

headers are great and all, but they can actually kill power on a stock engine in the bottom end
