Just curious if there is a way to temporarily disable the daytime running lights on a 98 Riv... I don't see any switch, or find anything in the manual. I just want to be able to turn off the lights when I'm warming up the car in the morning, or sitting in a parking spot idling. Isn't there a way of engaging the parkling lights only?
On my 98 Chev Tahoe you depress the parking brake to the first notch, but that doesn't seem to do anything on the Riviera...

Re: Disable DRL?
The 99 PA's manual tells how to make the drls go off when the shifter is in park. If the Riv can do it, it will be in the manual.

Re: Disable DRL?
yes under the headlight pull switch there is a little thing that slides, if you slide it all the way to the left and they will shut off as long as the car is in park

Re: Disable DRL?
You can also find the fuse for the DRLs and pull it. In most cases they are a dedicated fuse and you won't lose anything else, however, I would check the manual just in case. I did this exact thing to my Tahoe, and plan to do it to my PA Ultra....w/ the Tahoe it worked like a charm. This, of course, will keep the DRLs off at all times however. If you just want them off at idle(in park) then do as Sully98 said. M

Cool! Thanks guys!
I did find this in my manual after a second look. Not the part about pulling the fuse though! So in order to cruise in the evening with just the parking lights on, I'd have to pull that, huh? There is something about a black car at dusk with just the amber/red lights on that looks fantastic!

Re: Disable DRL?
Yep...PS 'they' don't tell you in the owner's manual that pulling the fuse will shut them off cause 'they' think you should have them on all the time...you just have to know it. M.
