88 735i will not unlock

Hello, I have an 88 735i. The car will not unlock, only the trunk will. I believe the battery is dead and this is why the doors will not unlock. Is there a way to manually override this so I can get in to jumpstart my car?

thanks in advance

Re: 88 735i will not unlock

Have you tried putting key in passenger door lock and then attempting to open door while turing key to about 110 degrees in the unlock position? Barring this I have heard that applying 12 volts to the trunk light electrical connection may work and of course putting 12 volts to the large cable connection opn the starter will work (first must get under her or get hood open). I made a emergency hood opening device on my 1988 750 by drilling a small hole in the fascia next to drivers head light and then attaching a wire to the hodd release cable at the lock jaws and then routing cable through the fascia opening and taking that end and forming it into a circle so I could put a finger through the circe and pull the cable to release the hood.
