Gearbox noises/oils
corolla 93, 1.3, 4e-fe
Dear friends, Being a new driver, can anyone tell me if I have damaged the gearbox, on the account of: semi-forcing it into 1st (pressing clutch while slowing down to hault)? changing gears while not pressing clutch properly (car in full motion, heard a 'Whirrrrrr' noise)? Will changing the gear oil protect the gearbox from these human errors? Cheers |

Re: Gearbox noises/oils
answer no.. GOOD oil is important but shifting the car without the clutch is not a good idea.. it can be done with finess and without making a sound.. but still, dont do it.
as for oil. i use GM syncromesh at 10$ a pinte.. goes very well and smooths out the shifting. im still on the original transmission and clutch and never had any troubles. Deadring
