lighter fuse?

Ever since I bought my 95 FB I have yet to try the cig lighter. It never came with the lighter plug thing so I never had a way to test it until today.

I borrowed a radar detector from a friend who hadnt been using it for a logn time. Uponplugging it in I received no light or sounds and I'm not sure if the problem is the lighter or the rador dector. Where is the fure for the cig lighter?

I seen the fuse box under the hood but that didnt seem to cover things light inside lights or stereo. Everything else in the ar seems to have power.

is their an inside fuse box or any suggestions?

thanks

Re: lighter fuse?

Ok checked radar detector in a diffrent car and it works so the problem is no power to the lighter. I checked and the wires seemed fine... I really think its a fuse issue.... but where?

Re: lighter fuse?

If the fuse isn't the problem. They try going to wal mart and buying a replacement cigarrette lighter and swapping it out with the other one. I had the same problem when I first got my car, and it turned out the whole tube had surface rust in it which wasn't allowing any electricity through.

Re: lighter fuse?

The fure did need chaning (horn wasnt going) and I did get a new plug at radio shack but their still seems to be a problem.

The radioshack plug is the orange size (came with 4 color coded ends). but still seems loose. if you wilggle the plug that connects to the radar detector it goes off. Im gonna go to radio shack to look for a slightly bigger plug tomorrow.

I'm starting to think I should of just bought a brand new boxed one.
