Dakota 2000 turn signal shuts itself off

I have a 2000 Dakota Quad Cab that the turn signal is going crazy. You turn it on and sometimes it works, then sometimes it will start and turn itself off after a couple of clicks. You can sometimes get it to work manually. The emergency flasher works, no bad bulbs and no burnt fuses. And just where in the world is the flasher to replace on these?!
My wife drives this 80% of the time and getting to and from her teaching job, with her hand out the window, in the winter is getting old.

Please help before she shoots me.
