First kill with the SS...

Not much competition, but still had to post the first kill with the car. The crew was hanging out and the house. This is fbody country here, especially with 4 camaros and a Firebird sitting in my parking lot. I have a buddy that picked up an 02 Mustang GT(black with a red stripe). It had been modded somewhat before he picked it up. Mods were a superchips tune, borla exhaust, intake of some sort.
He's knowledgeable of camaros and there performance due to the fact that he got beat by my other buddies lightly modded lt1 camaro a few days prior.
I wanted to get a feel of where I stood as far as performance wise, so I had to line up with him. We rode out to the spot and lined up. First real time to run it from a dig, so I tried to launch it at around 1000rpms. Needless to say it smoked up the street tires as we launched. His car dead hooked(both him and his passenger told me), and I instantly pull a car or so spinning. Finally after feathering it for what seemed to be forever, I get it to stick, and its instant OWNAGE. Took it up to 130-135, and saw he wasn't going to have a chance of catching up.
I'm really impressed with these cars bone stock. It's not always easy getting out of an 11 second truck and into a 13 second car without feeling its slow. I can't wait to have some real fun with this car in the near future.

Re: First kill with the SS...

sounds cool, what do you have planned for it though? boost of any sort? If you stay N/A that would be a good matchup for me.

I'm going to stay fairly tame with it for some time. I keep having to tell myself that I bought the car to drive everyday and not mod the crap out of it like my truck. I'm going to do the bolt ons first, then if I'm not completely satisfied, I'm going to upgrade to a larger cam, slightly worked heads, and a larger stall. If I go with a power adder, it will be the nitrous kit I have laying in my shed. Do I really want to go there already though???? .........

so i take it its a A4,
usually if i do a pre burnout i can launch at 1500 with minimal wheelspin (M6 4.10's)

Pft... it's an LS1, it flat out destroys anything.

Duhhh... Tat, you knew that... it's why you went turbo, so you can attempt to keep up.

Re: First kill with the SS...

ha a 240 needs a turbo to keep up with just about anything. they are slow as balls stock.

but yeah even with my power level i will be very happy if i can keep up with one, becasue we all know that a LS1 cannot be beaten.

Re: First kill with the SS...

Yeah, its an Auto and stock for the moment. Lid and cutout should be here by Wednesday, and if we end up going to the track Saturday night, it will probably have a small shot of gas on it. I can't keep anything stock for very long.
I think his car has some pretty hard miles on it, because it was a very bad beating. I would blame it on driver error, but how hard is it to push the gas and go on a lightly modded GT?

I've already been beaten as well, but of course it was by another lightly modded 6-speed LS1. Other than that they are UNBEATABLE!!!!!

I'm working on a Bottled form of LS1, so that other cars can share in the glory of invincibility... Once I get the formula down, I'm going to a mint!!

That's because the LS1 was born from Chuck Norris' seed

Seriously though, nice first run.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

The main reason for the purchase of the ls1 is the fact that I have a ton of experience working on the ls-based engines and performance parts. The engines in the trucks are all but identical to the ls1s and all the parts are interchangeable. I've always loved an fbody, and I've wanted one as long as I can remember. It was just the right time for me to make the purchase and I came up on a super clean one that I wasn't going to let go. Plus its nice having two identically colored beasts sitting side by side in the driveway.
