Modded GT vs MODDED SRT-4

Alright so I have a friend (even though I hate him) who has a mildy modded SRT-4. Not positive what his mods are but I know he has the boost upped and a bunch of bolt ons (exhaust intake etc...). He wants to race my Mustang after I told him about the other SRT-4 victories. We wanted to race at the track, however it wont be open until it is done getting resurfaced and what not. So we are going to race on an open road near here known as the "quartermile". He is pretty sure he can beat me but I am also pretty confident. My mods are

VT Stage 1 Cams
Zex 100-125 Shot
Mildly ported and polished heads
4.10 Gears
CAI
Throttle Body + Plenum
Midpipe
Catback
SCT Tune

If we do decide to race on the track later during the summer I will put on my slicks/skinnies and put back on the launch springs. My fastest time with everything on was 11.8 with a 1.69 60ft. Any predictions for the race on the street. I'm sure I would win hands down on the strip. But I would be on street tires/suspension for the street race...

dude, you should eat him alive...I was in a stock '04 MACH 1 this weekend and we smoked a stock(as far as I know) SRT-4. I realize that you only have 2 cams, but with the head work and intake work you should hold your own easily. Im thinking that a stock GT w/ 4.10s would pull on an SRT-4. Dont let forced induction scare you. Most of the best cars Iv seen were all motor N/A... Just be sure your tires are warm and sticky for a good launch. I assume you always run 93 octane? If not I would start...Seems to work great in my buddies MACH.

BTW dont use the n2o unless you have to, I wouldnt think you would need it. We really smoked that SRT-4 this weekend, pulled like 2 bus lengths...

A stock GT should be about the same as a stock or mildly modded SRT-4. You should kill him.

Considering the mods you have I dont think you have anything to worry about in a street race. The giggle juice will surely put you on top. As much as I like the SRT-4, my vote is for your stang.

Nah, stock vs. stock the srt would dominate a 98 gt in everything and the srt will most likely kill a 99+ gt in the 1/4 and would definetly kill one on a roll.


However, as far as this race is concerned the GT is going to win. I also thought bench racing was forbiden on here...?

Results are in.....

Note:It was pretty close to a quartermile length of road, may be more, may be less.

Race One: From a dig. Me on spray (125) with street tires/suspension
Had a little too much spin to be considered a good launch (used to launching with slicks + drag suspension), but pretty good over all. Completely took him. Didn't really look back but I'm sure I had buslengths on him.

Race Two: From a dig. Me on motor.
Much better launch, but still not perfect. Took him by a few lengths at the end of the quartermile... Much closer race.

Race Three: From a 40MPH roll. Me on spray + had to gear down.
Started pulling pretty hard once I geared down. Had him by about a car at 90 or so when I shut down...


So there you have it folks....

We plan to race again at the track when we get a chance... He has plans for a full stage 1 upgrade and he is pretty sure he will be able to beat me....

I will be running slicks/skinnies with full drag suspension and possibly a 150 shot....
