There are like 35985043543029549 threads about this.

Search. Google. I think we even have a HUGE FAQ about this.

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

well i dont care about the 35985043543029549 times this has been posted. ive read most of them and its not what im looking for. i want peopel who have done it not people who have read about it and think they know and i want people who have a d15b7 with manual tranny to respond. im not looking for a repost of someone who can say google it or search the forums, i want new, fresh material.
ill reiterate, any information on the d15b7 into a 94 ith manual tranny is much APPRECIATED, in this thread. thanx

also u can post links to manuals. that'd be great

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

it is not that hard to do an engine swap. if u are going for something other that what u have than the hardest part will be the wiring and even that is not that hard. a b series motor would be the easiest swap to do. i put a b18c1 in my 94 civic ex. all u gotta do is research what u want done. me and my buddy never did anything like this before but we had the old engine out and the new one in in a weekend.

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

well ill tell u my situation. i have my 94 dx and its getting kinda old. now granted, 150,000 on a honda is like nothing but i have to admit ive beat on it more than i should have. so i have two routes, engine swap or new car. if i swap it i will only do two swaps, the original d15b7 or like u said, a b18c. lets go with the b18c here, what do i need altogether, tools, etc. do i need new engine mounts? new supsension? get back at me. thnx for all the info

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

i will need an engine hoist. u will need to get new motor mounts...they usually come with the motor. u will also need to use some of ur original mounts. i forget which ones. the b18c doesnt really weigh that much more so u dont need a new suspension. u can get a wiring diagram off a couple of websites to show u which wires and sensors u need to add. u are going to need to get integra axles and ecu too.

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

There's a book written by Aaron Bonk, it's called Honda Engine Swaps...anyways, it's all about swaps. It might not hurt you to find one and take a look at it. It has lots of photo's and covers a bunch of stuff. It sounds lioke you are just starting out, so I would consdier looking into it, it should be a good read for you.

http://www.themotorbookstore.com/hon...ine-swaps.html

Quote:
In Honda Engine Swaps, author Aaron Bonk gives you a rundown of what you'll need to get more engine into your Honda. The first section provides general info about the weight and size issues, and the computer, wiring, and emissions hurdles you'll need to jump. The chapters in the second section each outline a different chassis, from '84-'87 Civics and '86-'89 Integras to the modern '01-'03 Civic. Within each chapter, Bonk walks you through the installation of each of the most popular swaps for that particular chassis. You'll learn to upgrade you axles, brakes, and suspension; convert the wiring and sensors to the new ECU; mix and match electrical connectors, radiator hoses, motor mounts; and even retain your power steering and air conditioning!

Bonk uses over 335 photos to help you decide which engine works with your chassis by highlighting the high and low points for each transplant, focusing on the custom, aftermarket, and salvage-yard parts that you'll need. From the little things like injector plugs and radiator hoses to the big things like finding the best transmission and ECU to go with your new engine, Honda Engine Swaps is a one-stop source for Honda/Accura swap info.

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

i got this book to read up on swaps before i did mine. it does a great job explaining which swaps are the easiest for your car. it doesnt give you step by step instructions but it will give you a better idea of what you might want to do.

Re: OPEN THREAD(engine swap)

Get a Haynes manual. It tells you step by step how to pull and reinstall a motor. Any B or another D series would be a direct replacement.
