Re: ABS light

Is your Trac off light on too? If so, you may have a bad wheel speed sensor, which is contained in the hub bearing. I would have the car scanned with an abs capable scanner to see which what is causing your ABS light. I believe the two (the battery problem and the ABS slight) are unrelated.

Re: ABS light

I just had the same thing happen to my gtp. It ended up being the hub so get it checked out... it's gonna be a couple hundred to replace the hub but it's prolly a good idea.

Re: ABS light

That happened to me too, the ABS light was constantly on, so in late november I took the car back to the place I bought it in Sept of last year and had them check into it. They told me that they found 6 "old codes" stored and they thought that could be the problem, couldn't find anything mechanical so they cleared the code, a week later it was back. Then just a few weeks ago I found I needed new pads, while replacing them I found that my one caliper had seized. I went to a new shop, got it fixed (also needed a rotor because it had been like that for so long, if the first shop had of found that it would of saved me a lot of money) and the light hasn't come on since. Needless to say I'm not going back to the place I bought it again.

Re: ABS light

I know I need to replace my brake pads, that is a spring break project. Maybe that will take care of it?? or is it definately a deeper problem such as: a caliper, rotor, or sensor??

Re: ABS light

Unless your brakes are pulsating really bad, worn out pads wont cause an ABS light.

I agree with Rich. I've seen really bad rotor and caliper problems but none ever triggered the ABS light.

Re: ABS light

Hello all, I'm new to AF so bear with me. I was wondering if disconnecting the battery might reset or clear any of these ABS codes or what have you? My ABS light and Traction Off light came on just from one bout of heavy braking.

Re: ABS light

A majority of ABS problems are in the wiring from the wheel sensor into the main harness. You need to get the code read (Usually at a dealer) and if it comes up with a particular wheel, I would go to the junkyard and get another harness for that corner.
