Timing Off! Help!

I Just Repalced My Satrter On My 1967 Camaro. It Has A Gm 350 And When I Went To Satert It It Was Running Real Bad And My Timming Was Way Way Way Off. I Have A 700r Tarnsmission, The Kickdown Cable Is Located Right Above The Starter.

Please Help!

How many threads are you going to ask the same question in, but yet with different bits and pieces of the puzzle?

What does the kick down have to do with timing?

In your OTHER thread i said check the label, obviously that is now not a good recommendation since there no doubt isn't one anymore if there ever was one.

Now, the correct fix would be attach a vacuum gauge to a manifold vacuum source, loosen the hold down bolt, remove and plug the vac advance for the dist., and hook your light up. Start it up and turn the dist for or aft until the vac. reading is at it's highest but more importantly smoothest reading you should have no problems holding 18 inches of vac unless the motor is tired or you have a high lift cam, but the key is steady vac. All this is of course while checking the timing tab with the light to see exactly where your at. You should go no more than 10-12* adv. anymroe than that and you'll get preigntion knock. While on a test drive definatley pay very close attention to the engine for detonation, if it does, back it off.

I Had This Problem Befor And My Kickdown Cable Was Caught On The Throttle .i Did Take Offthe Vacum Line From The Dist. Maybe That Has Some Thin To Do With It

Also, if there are HI miles on the engine, you might want to replace the timing chain and tensioner...it will help the engine keep better time and, as a result, run more smoothly.

that has nothing to do with the timing, throttle and timing are completly different.

and please, dont type in all caps

i figured it out it was a couple of things. one was a 3 bad spark plugs, and wires. thanks for all ur help
