1999 Water Pump

I notice the design of the old water pump changed. The fins are now further extended. The water pump sits in an awkward spot - if the weep hole leaks, it leaks onto the A/C compressor. It rsted our my A/C compressor! What sayeth ye???

When the seal went on my wife's '99, it went onto the serpentine belt and therefore onto every single item under the hood, including soaking the hood insulation/dampening material and ruining the belt (probably could have washed it and reused it but the rubber felt a little soft and guoey.) Easy as ever to replace, but still one of many design issues that are far less than optimal with that engine.
