debating on buying

ive been debating on buying a builder car for a while now. and i figured ild drop a thread here to see what i get. the builder i want will either be an f-body (comaro or firebird) or a mustang. ive already checked out the f-body and got a lot of info from those guys about the lt1, and the ls1. so i figured ild ask you guys. i want to get a v8 with a stick. i like the 5.0's, mostly becuase its a 302, and everybody loves 302's. but i like the look of the 4.6 better. so any info you guys would be willing to give ild appreciate.

Re: debating on buying

How much are you looking to spend? The LT1 camaros were faster than the mustangs of the same years and the LS1s were faster than the mustangs of their years. However the Foxbody mustangs were considerably quicker than the 305 3rd gen camaros and I think about even with the 350 powered ones. Also, mustangs are pretty much always cheaper in every year of production.

Re: debating on buying

i did the math and i think i can do 12grand with a loan. but im no fan of loans. thats not including a 4 grand down payment(or possibly even trade in my other car). (which leaves me enough to live off of and tax tags and liscence. im not really looking to modify it right away. leaving it stock for at least a little bit will give me time to generate cash.

Re: debating on buying

Well to be honest if you want to go fast for 12 grand and don't want to do modifications I would go with a 98+ Fbody with the LS1, I am a mustang guy and I love the car but those are fast cars out of the box.

Re: debating on buying

thats true, cobras are pretty fast outa the box. the older cobras have a 302 in em im pretty sure. like 93-95. someone correct me if im wrong on that. if you somehow found a 03/04 cobra in your price range you wouldnt regret buying it, 400hp stock and it loves mods. i think you might be able to find a 99 for your price range, im almost positive you could find a 300hp 96-98 cobra for your price.
