clutch problems

just recently when i try to shift my 95 s10 5 speed it doesn't go even though the clutch is depressed all the way in. when i try to shift into reverse the tranny grinds and does not allow you to shift into the gear. when i turn off the truck i can shift into gear then start the truck. even though i get into gear with the truck off i cant shift to another gear. when i try to pull from any of the gears it feels as if the clutch isn't depressed. any help would be great. hopefully this doesn't cost me a arm and a leg.

Does your truck have a hydraulic cylinder or a cable type clutch??

I'm having the same problem. Mines hydrolic. My thread is a few down the list " '90 clutch problem" Please help

I had the same problem with my 95 S10 2.2L. 5 speed hydraulic clutch 130k miles. I had to flush the hydraulic clutch system.
I removed the old fluid and wiped the dirt out with a clean rag. Filled
it up isopropyl alcohol and had a friend work the peddel while I worked
the bleeder screw at the clutch release cylinder. I needed a 5mm allen
wrench for the screw. We pumped a half a bottle of alcohol through the
system. Recommend you let the alchohol work over night if possible. Then we pumped fresh hydraulic fluid through the system to remove all the alchohol. Finish off with a good bleed job. Before I did all this I was
out pricing a new clutch at over $400.
If all this this dosen't work then look for leaks. The master cylinder will leak inside the cab where the push rod goes through the fire wall. The release cylinder will leak inside the bellhousing. You can remove the cylinder by removing the two bolts (or nuts ?) holding it to the bell housing. Be carefull with the plastic line.

it sounds like a worn out clutch. using alcohol to clean it is really over the top, new fluid thru the system is about all you need as the brake fluid for the clutch really doesnt get hot enough to do anything and it rarely sucks up moisture. i like the perfection clutches from advanced. theyre about 200$ for the pressure plate, clutch disc, aligning tool, to bearing etc and they also sell nice new flywheels so you dont have to waste time with having one cut down. the slave adn whatnot is on the outside of the tranny so if you have any problems with it changing it later is easy enough.
