1999 Pontiac Montana Heater Problem

My 1999 Pontiac Montana Heater doesn't seem to work.

It used to just take a long time to heat up, now it's not heating up at all.

Upper radiator hose not warm after 10 minutes, and pipe running to heater hose also not warm.

Is this a slam dunk for a "stuck" thermostat ?

Thanks in advance.

Chances are pretty good that it is a thermostat. but make sure it is not leaky intake manifold gasket also.
Try to look for white/yellow peanut butter like substance on oil filler cap.

Re: 1999 Pontiac Montana Heater Problem

New Thermostat (and bruised knucles, this sucker is a pain to work on because of clearances). Upper Radiator Hose is now Hot. Also Opened bleed valve and the coolant's plenty warm.

When I trade the heater hose back from the fire wall, the "hot" feed seems to wrap around the front of the engine and connect to a fitting that disappears between the two halves of the intake manifold.

When I open the bleed valve near the water pump on the tube that feeds hot water to the heater core, there's coolant but no pressure? Does anybody know if this thing has a heater control valve someplace? What controls water flow into the heater core ?

So did you get this fixed? I am having the same problem. Where is the Thermostat located on this and how much of a pain to replace? I have looked through the Mitchell manual and can not locate a procedure to replace.

2000 Montana - Slow Warm Up, No Heat - Comments see
posting at http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/dir...ew/.f0fa8b1/31 by kennie. If the warm up occurs slow could be thermostat or other things... if no heat from vents even when engine is at operating temperature could be the aux heat pump. Good luck !
