Converting Auto to Manual and tips or tricks?

I am converting my '92 Stealth from Automatic to Manual. Any special things i need to change up? at one point my mechanic (idiot i think ) said that i would need to cut into some wires and stuff to make it work properly. Is there any CHANGES i need to make to the car to make it work properly? as well as is there an EASY way to go about intalling the new trans. Thanks for your help!

I was thinking of doing the same thing w/ my 98GT SL. How much does something like this cost?
