Gas pedal dies around 55mph; returns at 50
"90 4x4 pickup V6 3.0
Engine light on, repaired hose to EGR modulator, replaced O2 sensor, changed spark-plugs, wires and distributor. Checked EGR modulator... Thing dies at random above or around 55mph and then slows to 50 and comes back to life. Any ideas?

About half of the ECU codes stored on the first & second generation EFI Toyotas don't show a constant blinking check engine light therefore you must pull the ECU codes to see if a fault is registered.

The throttle works fine under 55. Its hard to say if its going back to idle, but the gas pedel dies completely.
Also the valve cover gaskets blew... could it be that a part of the emissions system is blocked or broken? PCV vALVE?

I could still use some help....
The truck DIES, no idle, but 'push starts' itself when it hits 50mph. Only happens after 55 mph in any gear (3,4,5) Runs fine under 55 except rough when coasting downhill while in gear. Valve cover gaskets blew. Lost some power and gas mileage has done down. Engine Temperature has no effect. Changed O2 sensor. What can I check next?

Have you checked for any stored codes?
Check to make sure all the vacuum lines are correctly connected and are in good order. This includes vent lines to the gas tank. Check the PCV valve to make sure the crankcase is properly ventilating. Check the fuel pressure. Check the valve clearance. What do your spark plugs look like? Check the air filter and air intake for obstructions to make sure your motor is breathing.
