damn shift lever, please help!!!

hi guys..

how are you today??


l sent the same post to firebirds forum but no replies yet!!! and l need immediate help cuz l cant go anywhere now!


today l came back home and l wanted to put the car on park but l couldnt press the button.. it was stock somehwere and finally l presses the button and put the car on park but when l stopped the car, l couldnt get the key out of ignition.. the shifter's is turnning 180 dgrees around. (just the head part) l dont know what the hell is wrong but l started to have a huge headache now.. l am about the sell this shit and now l had another problem..

l guess l need the take that shifter handle off but l dont know how to.. please tell me what is the problema and how can l fix it step by step.. l need to do it, cuz l cant go anywere and LEAVE THE KEY ON IGNITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: damn shift lever, please help!!!

Can't push the button and can't getthe key out. Unfortunately the problem isn't in the shifter, it is in the safety interlock on the ignition switch, which is mounted to the steering column.
Out of curiosity...do you have to hit the brake pedal to move the shifter in and out of park? If so, that is another type of safety interlock and it may also be messed up.
