Looking into getting a new frontier

I was wondering if anyone could post up pros and cons of the frontier. I love the 06 model looks and power, but wanted to know from some owners what to look for.

Re: Looking into getting a new frontier

Hey, I'm not sure about the '06 Frontier, but I own a '05, XE 4x2, V6, A/C, and Auto Trans.

Pro's,
-POWER! I try (hard) to take it easy with the right foot, but every now and then it's fun to press it down a little harder then needed.
-Size and style, I like the fact that the 4x2 still looks the way a 4x4 does. I don't need a 4x4, 99% of the time, so I don't want to pay for something I don't need or use, but I like the way it stands/looks.

Con's
-The '05 seems to have a lot of little "bugs." That's why I came to this website in the first place. There's things like the sound of water moving around in the dash/heater area.(Dealer said Nissan knows about it and it's a design flaw)
-A clicking noise under the dash from the relays for the break lights. It's a little thing, but do a lot of stop and go driving without the radio and it'll get bug you from time to time.
-"Clinking" noises (like the sound you get when you drop the handle of bucket) when I turn or press the gas.(body flexing)
-Diesel sound from the engine, from time to time, again, the deal said "it's the way the V6 runs"
And the latest noise is in the driver's seat when I start and stop it "clinks."

I think my truck was a "friday" truck (a six pack of beers for lunch and back to the factory! haha) Within the first week of buying it I needed to tighten just about every bolt on the rightside body pannels. The right 1/4 pannel was flapping in the wind. That's no joke.

I hope this helps you when you are test driving / shopping for any truck. I didn't write it to bad-mouth the Frontier, I still own it, I can't say I'm "happy about the truck, but I like it enough and it's useful enough to keep it, for now.

Re: Looking into getting a new frontier

Hi there. Just bought a new 06 4x4 navara(frontier) here in australia. Got to say its one good unit. It rides and handles better than the old model which i also owned. Love the six speed gearbox. Have only put 1500 klm on the clock so far and have not any trouble so far. All the write ups in the 4x4 magazines in Australia give it good reviews, saying even better than the Toyotas. You wll not be sorry if you buy one, Iam not.
