00 Si Turbo Set-Up Help Needed and More Newbie Questions

Hey I have another turbo set up for the B16a and was wondering if I could get any help or ideas/advice on my goal of 300 horses.

So far I've put together this:
Greddy Bolt-On Turbo Kit

(Includes TDO5H-18G Turbo, cast manifold, FCU, 310cc injectors, instrustions and everything to make this kit a direct bolt on unit)*i dunno if that means it has a blow off valve, if not I'll get an HKS BOV
Forged Flat Top Pistons By Probe Racing
Forged Connecting Rods By Probe Racing (if anyone knows of a guaranteed better brand let me know)
Skunk2 Turbo 1 Cams
Skunk2 Valvesprings and Retainers
Spearco Air-to-WaterIntercooler
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM 5 Bolt Tru-Time Cam Gears and Tru-Power Pulley System
BOSCH Spark Plugs and Wires
DC Sports Single Canister Cat-Back Exhaust System

Now for some n00bish questions:
Now what else should I shoot for if I'm going for an efficient 300 mark?
-
Should I bother with a throttle body upgrade?
-
Will the FCU, Blow Off Valve, and Injectors be enough for my power goal?
-
Would getting a Skunk2 Intake manifold Or AEM v2 Intake be better or worse off than the 2 parts included with the kit?
-
With this setup is replacing the crankshaft a worth-while upgrade?
-
Would adding ice-water to the intercooler or CryO2 products (cools the temp of the fuel line and intercooler using CO2) require tuning of the car for it to run that way, everytime it's done?
-
Is there anything else in the ENGINE that needs to be modded I'm forgetting to mention?
-
And lastly, I understand HP and BHP (Brake) but what does WHP stand for and mean?

P.S. If anyone has a different turbo setup other than the greddy kit that's better for overall speed and/or cost efficiency please feel free to input any ideas and tech info.

Re: 00 Si Turbo Set-Up Help Needed and More Newbie Questions

wow. bhp is the horsepower at the crankshaft. that is what most engines are measured at from the factory. whp is more important for tuning a car, and stands for wheel horse power. If you want to reach 300hp, I'de say go for 300whp rather than 300bhp. Crower makes good rods. I suggest going straight air to air intercooler. you will have a much easier time with it and you dont need anything more if you're only going for 300 hp. you will need an exhaust setup. that will have to be custom. Personally I dont like turbo kits, it is better to get everything peice by peice, that way you learn more about going forced induction and what will be in you car, and you get the parts you want. for example, I think that 310cc injectors are too small for a turbo car. 440cc at least. research it more before you try and just put a turbo on your car. do you have any idea how much it will cost you? how much are you looking to spend?

Re: 00 Si Turbo Set-Up Help Needed and More Newbie Questions

Yeah, I'm kind of new to the whole engine building idea, so i'm glad you didint give me some hazing like ive had before. But anyway, the money situation isnt too big of a deal, yes i would like to buy the lowest priced yet best bargained products but at the same time I have enough when those parts need to be better, i.e. more expensive. I have my money for college set, and my rent/phone are ALL set. I just have all the time in the world to plan for this car. I won't even be getting it until late this year, most likely after summer. But back about the turbo, i was only using the kit as a reference being i know little about turbochargers (i am reading the link bluecivicsi posted) but i'm glad you offered the help you did. My real issue of fear is the tuning aspect, as it is foreign to me :P. I'm going to do some research and i'll be back with any questions, any additional help is still great though!

might want to take a look at your axels, since honda the SI axels were made to handle 160 horsepower not 300hp, they could easily break

Yeah axles would definately be a buy, but I have another question.

When i do eventually get the turbo set up, which computer would you think be best for the car. The two i see are the Greddy E-Manage or a Hondata. I would like the option to log info onto a laptop, but i wasnt sure if they both had vtec window variability. Or if one was just better for this app than another.

Re: 00 Si Turbo Set-Up Help Needed and More Newbie Questions

300 whp isn't that hard with that set up, u need an ems, aem is good but cost $ apex vafc will work but not that flexable i'm running a vafc in my 2000 si turbo set up and dyno 253 whp at 11 psi on stock internals and still pulling hard with 131k miles and i run the crap out of my car on the street and track, its all in the tunning dont skip on the tunning it will be life or death for your motor, axle's aren't the biggest problem its the diff, trust me i've blown 3 of them on the track, get a vortec fmu, fuel pump, and look for a shop with a good rep to do the tunning. let met kmow if you need anymore help with your build.

tune it or blow it

Re: 00 Si Turbo Set-Up Help Needed and More Newbie Questions

my advive not to use the fmu its not good for safe engine , let any other electronic method to control your boost such as chipsed ecu with wide band o2 sensor , or safc or vafc, and big injectors , q: why electronic method? a: because the electronics give you the perfect ratio between the compressed air and the fuel , so there are no additinal air or additinal fuel which both of them damage the engine.
