MK3 GTI 8v cut off

  • Hi, my 2.0 8v has started to 'click' off intermittently, as though the car is trying to turn itself off, but because its in gear it bumps itself started again so just appears to be one big jerk. There is a noticable click from the key area and the rev needle drops for a split second to zero. finally just cut off last night and died. starter works but engine doesnt start, vw dealer has replaced coil and 2 relays, no fault codes appear on diagnostic, ideas??? car is 140.000 miles but fsh

Re: MK3 GTI 8v cut off

you have to remove the steering wheel, switches and ignition cylinder and then you can remove the electrical portion.
