2nd Gen, with Airbox In Front.

ok, this is really simple, since i couldn't find a cold air intake system for my 94 rs, i noticed something odd about the stock airbox. If you look at the bottom, you won't really notice any holes for air to come in, and if you follow the only tube off the bottom, it should connect to a second tube. this second tube also has no holes, and curls around the radiator. if you simple take the bolts out holding this second tube in it will fall out of the first and you'll have about a 1 foot tube off the bottom of your airbox that will draw air from the bottom of the front of the hood area, (aka. Stock Cold Air Intake) that other tube that you took off is just a sound dampener(aka. air intake restriction)

More Air=GOOD.

Less Air=BAD.

sounds like a plan there but im not sure thats really gonna work. ive done some pretty intense looking into that on my car. 92 2.2l cav. same as any other 2nd gen cav. its actually 3 tubes. and they all connect together by slimply sliding into each other. you have the air box ( where your filters is at) then you have the tube underneath that, then another tube that connects below that, then theres the one that connects to that one that comes back up "BY" the radiator and then wraps back up into the engine compartment. Yes you were correct that the Inducstion tube dosent have any holes for air to come through. im still researching this type of induction. i do know that making your own custom CAI is possible as these tubes dont bolt together they are just really snugg when put on A really good tug and they sould slip right out. dont get me wrong your going to have to work it but it will eventually just come off.

I did it!

ok, i made my own cai routing for the stock box with a little bit of pvc piping, and a little work to make it fit tight, in the 94 it's only 2 tubes and the one from the airbox itself is pretty secure, you would really have to pull to get it out, has a little more pickup, but not really anything else, this is an ok sub till i get the manta intake.
