Clear over alclad II Chrome

I was thinking of spraying the silver trim lines using Alclad, but would then have to clear it to allow me to polish it, what effect would this have on the Alclad paint, as if it dulls it I'll just use the decals. I want the stripes to be the same as the chrome wheels so it all matches nicely, any advice?

Thanks

Alclad doesn't like clear. It'll end up looking at best like polished aluminum, and most likely just clearcoated silver.

Bare metal foil is best for doing trimwork; but you didn't really specify what you are trying to accomplish.

By trim lines I meant the racing stripes down the new mustang.

If you want chrome stripes to match the chrome wheels then use Bare Metal Foil. Pre-cut the strips the same width as the kit stripes and lay it down over the clearcoated body and then polish them out w/compound. Or you can clear over the foil. Aside from being thicker than Alclad, it will look like chrome.
