Personally I think the exterior looks better on a 4th gen. But not by a whole lot. Interior is better on the 5th gen, but I like the 4th gen to. It's unique. The thing I like least about the 4th gen is there isn't much trunk space for my golf clubs . . I guess there could be worse problems though.

to me their both very unique cars

Both has its high points and low points

The best prelude i have every seen is
my friend's 94' Prelude

He fixed the hell out of it to 275 hp NA yes and i mean NA
I have no clue how he did it
but he put a lot of work into it!!!

I've riden in it....and all i can say is HOLY !@#$
It was damn fast!!!

bah.....the 4g prelude is outa style, old news, kinda like an '85 civic. it reminds me of a fat girls, big round buldges and a big round ass. the 5g is clean, smart, and very exquisite. besides, for some reason, you never see a riced out 5g, but 75% of 4gs are.

I probably favor the 4th gen more because I own one but I just can't stand the headlights.

That and I bought my car to mod. From what I hear the 5th gens don't respond as well as the 92-95s becasue of OBD II and I have actually seen almost identical setups and the 4th gen always has more HP. And both cars actually way about the same.

that's funny, because I saw a dohc vtec prelude 4g with i/h/e, msd, and some plug wires dyno 125, while a bone stock 5g also dynoed 125, on the same dyno the same day.

I don't know what was wrong with the dyno then. I dynoed my H23 at 144.3 and after my H22a swap I dynoed 160 and those are both bone stock. I have never seen bad numbers like that on either engine, especially with mods.

I dont understand why everyone likes the fourth gens better than the fifths. Personally i think a fifth gen looks sooooo sweet even stock. fourth gens are nice but not compared to theit newer counterparts

The 5th gen looks sweeter and is newer, but the 4th gen will always be faster with equal mods.

i don't understand this, a friend's dohc vtec 4g had a whole pile of mods, and dynoed the same as another friend's stock 5g on the same dyno they same day. given there is a small weight difference, it took more than just i/h/e to equal a stock 5g

Weight difference

In Oz a 4th gen weighs between 2720 and 2750 pounds and the 5th gen is between 2800 and 2890 pounds. A think its a little bit more then a little. :flash:
P.S. The coefficientcy in the wind tunnel on the 4th gens body is better as well.

Thumbs up 4g is better then 5g

i have to go with MARKUSIUDIUS on this one not only is weight a big factor on which one is faster but also look at your engine choices you have 1 engine you can get with 5g witch is the 2.2ltr v-tec 4g has 2 2.2 and 2.3 also to do mods to a 5th you are more limeted with v-tec because sorry too say your compression is way too high they put all the power behind the v-tec so where does that leave you with turbo nitrous or superchargers with very little room my question is who thinks v-tec is better then none v-tec im talking mod wise???? its 2.3 ltr against 2.2ltr vtec witch one is faster?

first off, under the hood is very similar. as for engine choices, the 2.2 sohc engine is crap and does not belong in a sports car, and the 2.3 is put in it's place by the vtec engine, so why not just offer one really good engine. the engines in the 4g and 5 g are very similar, so modding is about the same. as for weight, 2750 compared to 2800 is not that much of a difference, but the hp difference is 190 to 200, so any of the weight should be made up by horsepower. the transmission gearing is very similar also, so overal, it is a driver's race, even though i have yet to lose to a 4g vtec, even bolt on ones, in my stock prelude. but the 5g has a better sounding stereo, and sh outhandles any of the 4g's, so there are a lot of similarities and differences.
