old school paint?

i got an old car im fixin up and i love the old cadillacs and crap that have that dull black color to them. ibeleive its black primer and then clear coat. im primering my car black right now and i would like to know how to acheive that type of paint job if its just primer and clear coat as i beleive i can prolly prime it and have clear put on at earl scheib or some other crappy place for a small amt. thanks. not goin for show quality, just want it nice.

no idea, but dont leave it in just primer, that would rust pretty quickly... maybe just a flat black over the primer and no clear
