Are these good speakers?

Hey, I've been looking at speakers on ebay for awhile now because the ones in the back of my car are blown. I came across a pair of Audiobahn full range 6x9's that say they'll put out 180 watts RMS, these speakers only cost about $50.00. Are these speakers any good? I want to buy an amp eventually and run my front and rear speakers off of it, and I don't want to blow the speakers out or anything. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm pretty new to all of this.

Re: Are these good speakers?

Umm not really, they are probably 180rms for the set, and audiobahn are well pretty much crap unless you want to pay for the immortal or external series which i believe are only subs. Then again they are only for rear fill so it really doesnt matter. Look at MB Quart, Infinity Kappa or kappa Perfect series, CDT, they do cost more but there worth it usually about 65-100 on ebay for MB Quart.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: Are these good speakers?

Eternal not External and those I honestly think are the worst sounding subs I've ever heard..... No Joke. And yes they are only. Stay away from Audiobahn. FAR AWAY. Scrap Infinity too. MB Quart, Morel, Boston, JBL, JL Audio, and Focal along with others Make some pretty good 6x9's.

Re: Are these good speakers?

You know what i meant, just a little slip. Im pretty sure he doesnt want the best speakers thats why i recomended infinity there like the best of the average brands go as far as speakers. And il agree anything audiobahn is horrible, overpriced and cheaply made.

Re: Are these good speakers?

Ok, thanks for the advice. I had another question though, just how loud can good speakers in the doors go without running them off an amp? I had someone telling me I can get good sound only running a couple subwoofers in the trunk off an amplifier, and just letting the door speakers run off the head unit. I really don't want a lot of bass, I'm mainly just looking for something that will still sound good and clear with the volume cranked up. Oh, I have a Pioneer DEH-2700 head unit incase anybody is wondering, I believe it says it puts out 21 watts x 4 RMS. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Are these good speakers?

Not very loud and dont believe power ratings on HU. You can make them as loud as you want but they distort at a low volume off of HU power. An amp would make a difference of night and day between on any speaker.

Re: Are these good speakers?

What size amp do you think would be good to run 4 speakers? And am I correct in thinking that I would need a 4 channel amp? I was just looking at an Audiobahn A6004T amp that says it puts out 600 watts RMS, is Audiobahn an ok brand for an amp? Also, do you think 600 watts is good for just the 4 speakers? Thanks.

Re: Are these good speakers?

I dont want to sound like an ass but like bumpin said stay far away from audiobahn in any way shape or form. If you dont want to spend alot Profile makes decent amps which are rated so they put out what they say and a good 4 channel between 50-75rms would be perfect for speakers. Theses cost between 60-150 depending on where you go ebay is a pretty good place for profile. Pioneer premier, hifonics higher lines, jbl, jl, mbquart makes some amps, PPI makes some and theres a shit load of other companies out there. Bumpin could provide a better list than i could but i usually recomend profile since there nicley priced and are rated.

Re: Are these good speakers?

Most anything can be made to sound good, but from my experiences, Audiobomb only sounds good for home theatre, where the enclosures severly alter the properties of the speakers. Never heard a good sound from any Audiobomb in a car.

Infinity isn't bad. Ain't heard MB Quart, but Focal is sick. I've got a buddy that works for Focal, and I've heard some stuff come out of there, it's just awesome. Wish I had the $$ for it though.
