1986 Altenator Problems

Friend has a 1986 caprice 305 and the altenator will not charge the battery. This is the second altenator in 2wks! We replaced the the starter and the positive and negitive wires from the battery and still nothing. Anything we are missing?

Re: 1986 Altenator Problems

Sounds like you need a new one. I'll offer a piece of advice when buying a reuiblt alternator. Never leave the store with one until they test it for you and SHOW you that it is working.

Re: 1986 Altenator Problems

check the fuse for the guages. If that is blown your alternator won't produce any current.
