I want to get a custom exhaust put on my car. I'm having trouble finding reviews on what mufflers people with our cars like. I just want to hear back from you guys on what mufflers you have on ur car and if you like it. Please just recomend to me what you think sounds best! THANKS

Re: Custom Work

Use the rule of fist to start with if you fist fits inside to big atleast if your from the south lol no in serousness nothing bigger then 3-4in and there was a review or the Borla system on here at one time. DId you search for that or just exhaust?

Re: Custom Work

well here's what I'm thinking;
-Dynomax: Generally very well priced (as in low cost) and have very good flow/sound quality; VERY LOUD
-Borla: The best of the best in everything, but they cost a pretty penny (I think 300+ bucks per muffler, and you need two); not as loud as dynomax, but it's got a throaty rumble
-HKS: IDK too much about these, but I'm sure their up there with borla, and may be a bit cheaper
-Magnaflow: Around the same area as dynomax, generally more cost efficient with good sound (most likely pretty loud too).
-You could also go with no muffler, as turbo cars don't require backpressure to opperate, but this will be EXTREMELY loud.
-Glasspacks: these suckers are straight through and make it sound like you're just turning up the bass (if your exhaust system had an Equalizer)... pretty cheap too.
-Flowmaster: Musashi and I dind't really like the design, but alot of people have em' and love' em too; they say that it makes the car sound more like a v8... not sure on cost, prolly around 200ish per muffler.

These are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong..

EDIT: If you aren't turbo'd DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get an exhaust/mufflers any bigger than 2.5" and DO NOT straight pipe it... If you do have a VR4, or a TT n/a or SL than go right ahead with a 3" exhaust and straight pipe it if you want.

Re: Custom Work

If it were me, I'd be looking for 2 tube style 'ricer' mufflers on ebay. It's just a muffler, and to me, they look fine (except on an old LT1 corvette that some idiot at my work has) So i'd go with them, worrying only about fitment, because realistically they are all the same and can be found for $50 a piece. My car is never going to sound like a freaking Cobra with Flowmasters, and I'm fine with that.

Re: Custom Work

Hehe, my current exahust setup is the stock TT catback. My next exhasut set up is going to be nothing more than 2.5" catback y-ing off at the rear control arm area going into two glass packs. Yeah baby. You should have heard my car when I had the broken dp. It roared. It was just too loud inside the car. Sounded real good too. The glass packs will cure teh resonance and it exiting where it should will help internal noise.

Straight pipes on an N/A = Teh Rice

Striaght pipes on a Turbo = Panties

My ol' turbo Z had a 2.5" straight pipe, and it still had the stock cat and DP, but man I had to turn my stereo the fuck up becuase I couldn't hear anything over my damn exhaust... it sounded badass though

Re: Custom Work

well, here is my recommendation if you have a TT. Get rid of the cat, get an aftermarket downpipe, and then get yourself a 3 inch custom catback that splits into two before the gas tank, and then run just dual glasspacks for your mufflers. You will get soo many compliments about your exhaust, and you will love it too. I love mine soo much. When your just driving it normally, it sounds like a normal car, however when you get it on it, everyone will know.

Damn Rocker, just dog my car outta the water... SOHC, with 2.5" dual straight pipes... lost low-end torque, but nice sound, and helluva high top-end
