New System! Check It Out

I finally got my system put in on Tuesday, I was gonna do it myself but since it was my first system I left to the professionals... and im glad I did because they did a great job. I put all new Infinity speakers, components in the front running off an Alpine amp giving each speaker 50watts. And i have 2 Alpine 12's in the downfiring box, each getting about 300w rms from my 2 channel Hifonics amp. I built the amp rack and dynamated the entire firewall and floor under the subs (got the idea from Sportin83, thanks alot). It sounds amazing, I've never heard such a clean system. Let me know what you guys think... here are some pics.

Re: New System! Check It Out

Wow, looks good. Are they 4x6 speakers in the back. I always thought there has to be some way to get more noise from the back of these Extended cabs...

Re: New System! Check It Out

Hey I have a kicker sub behind my drivers seat because i have a single cab, and it sounds.......wierd, its alright, but is there a way to make it sound good even with the amount of space i have? I'm thinking of gettin a new sub, not sure... i want a clean bass... mines kinda choppy, is it just the sub? or is it because i have very little space?

Re: New System! Check It Out

Ahhh yes!! That makes me think of those younger days when Sir Mix A Lot and LL Cool J were big and I had a decent system in my '89 Mazda B2200. Fosgate, MTX, Pioneer.....Ok, I'm awake again!

Seriously, that's a nice, clean installation. I really like the way the amps are mounted. If I might ask, how much did it set you back?

Re: New System! Check It Out

Where did you get the sub box for your twelves, was that custom built? I've heard a few people say it's hard to fit them in the truck.

Re: New System! Check It Out

The amps are mounted on an amp rack i built out of 1/2" mdf and carpeted, along with ripping out the factory insulation and dynamating the back wall and drilling the amp rack to it with sheet metal screws (I got the idea from Sportin83, a member on this site who provided me with much insight. Thanks). I prepped the car myself for installation, and took it to Best Buy and they did everything for around $370. The system is worth about 2k but I got everything for around 1k.
I got the sub box for the two 12"s on ebay for about $100, but i got it almost 2 years ago so i forgot who it was from. It was a place that built these custom boxes and they sold this particular model for ext. cab silverados. It fits absolutely perfect and the only reason it may be "hard to fit" is because the box is slightly shallow so you have to be specific when buying your subs, they have to have a mounting depth smaller than 7". My subs were 6.25".

Re: New System! Check It Out

very nice system. I would like to upgrade my rear speakers also. Do you know how they removed the rear grills?

Re: New System! Check It Out

the grille doesn't come out, you have to remove the entire door panel. pretty easy actually, just undo the 2 bolts in the armrest and pop the panel out.

You probably have the sub underpowered. I have 2 Bostwick HDX 12's dual 4 ohm voice coils wired down to 1 ohm at the amp, so they're getting around 500-550 rms a piece and they hit hard as hell. It will rattle stuff out of my little overhead console with the bass test cd I made.
