Tach goes haywire

On my 89 2.5L Turbo, Voyager.
The tach goes haywire all the time, readings are jumping/spinning about. Is it connected to computer and causing my other engine problem? my manual has nothing to show where it is connected. Can I possibly fix it, it does for a short time (2 min.) show a good RPM reading?
