Just installed Greddy Profec-B SpecII EBC, absolutely amazing.
Though I've had the darn thing sitting since I did a local pick-up on it (and the wireless remote switch) for only $220 brand new several months ago, I only recently got around to having it installed.
I can't emphasize how amazing this thing is. My boost is rock solid at 12 psi, and both creep and spike are fully under control with the limiter and gain functions. I can't believe the difference. Before, when I was running no boost control at all with my current set-up, I would constantly somehow boost creep over the injector limit and I'm pretty sure I'd get what felt like fuel cut (though some people thought it wasn't f-cut) over 4K RPMs in higher gears. When I had the stock set-up with a manual boost controller (JoeP), spike was pretty bad too. But this Greddy Profec EBC just knocked the socks of everything else. With guage playback, you can see it almost creep over the set 12 psi, but then watch the limiter literaly drag the boost down to 12 and just hold it there. Plus that remote switching system is really cool, you just press the button and it'll revert to high boost settings you already input, and vice-versa for daily driving boost. I love this thing!!! |

good to know. I wanted to get an EBC for my b-day, I'm sick of having to get out of my car and do some test runs to switch from 15-20psi. That's an amazing price though, let me know if you see it in that range again.

I ran an old skool Profec B in the 2g for over 4 years, and this is why. EBCs are badass. Not a necessity, but a luxury that I thoroughly enjoyed
It was only good to 26 psi though, and I had to get fancy with some generic air pressure regulators and dual port external wastegates to get up to 30 psi. In the EVO I'm running the Profec B type S or whatever they call it. Much less complicated than the spec 2, just 3 knobs like the old skool version, but good to 43.5 psi. I upgarded the actuator in the EVO to a 17 psi spring, so I'm good to 34 psi now. Works like a champ. By definition boost creep can't be caused by a boost controller, or fixed by one, but there may have been other factors that affected things. Spike is all about the boost controller though, and it's something I've never had to deal with using an EBC. I'm also a little confused about the 25 psi comment. Stock blocks are running 10s at over 30 psi, and a much more worthwhile 30 psi at that (600 whp 30 psi vs 4-500 whp 30 psi). PSI is a bad unit to reference a blocks mechanical limits anyway, but I won't go into that again... Turn up the boost till that fucker breaks, IMO. That's what we pay the big bucks for built motors for after all...

Maybe they just say that so they don't have to replace engines that people boost too high (if they offer a warranty that is)
EDIT: So they said 25psi and it's set at 15? Come on!!!

Now now, I'm sure it's more for his piece of mind that he knows that under 25PSI he won't have to deal with buying more stuff for the car, I think it's more psychological than limitations on the block.
