Calibration of 2000 Intrigue Rear View Mirror With Compass and Thermometer

Does anyone know how to calibrate/use an Intrigue rearview mirror with compass and thermometer? I bought one on ebay that was for a 2000 Intrigue. I have a 2001 GL and my owners manual gives directions on how to use and calibrate a mirror with compass only.

The mirror only has one display, so I assume there is some way to toggle between temperature and compass. The display is now stuck on “100°F°C”. The buttons on the mirror front are the same as a mirror with compass only, ie three buttons: left light button, middle “IO” button, and right light button.

The mirror came with a connector with five wires: orange, grey, green, black, brown. These are the identical wires on my existing connector, in the same connector location, which plugged right in to the mirror, so I think all the wiring from my 2001 connector is correct.

I hold the “IO” button for 8 seconds which is suppose to place it in calibration mode, but the only thing that is displayed is the “100°F°C.” Anyone with a 2000 owners manual, or knowledge of this mirror, who can supply the calibration info would be appreciated.

This is a stock Oldsmobile Intrigue mirror with built in compass/thermometer. If it was not stock, I doubt if the connector would fit or the mirror would mount to the stock mirror mount on the window.

Sorry, you never mentioned it was a "stock" mirror. I'll check my owner's manual to see if there are instructions.

Nothing inthe 2000 manual except for how to calibrate the compass. Not knowing much about electronics, I would think the mirror has to be connected to a temperature sensor somewhere.

Try calling a GM dealership for help. Good luck.

I'm not sure, either, but I have a 2002 GL and the external temp is displayed on the heater control panel. Possibly the wire harness for the newer models does not bring the sensor signal up to the mirror and only to the heater control panel. I'll look in my 2002 service manual and see if it sheds any light.

Re: Calibration of 2000 Intrigue Rear View Mirror With Compass and Thermometer

kmour3, thank you for your response, however the temperature dispayed on the mirror is the ambient internal cabin temp. I believe there is a temp sensor in the mirror itself. My 2001 GL also has the external temp displayed on the heater control panel.

dtownfb, thank you checking your 2000 owners manual. I thought maybe the temperature option on the mirror was only available on 2000 Intrigues. This seems odd, I had never heard of the temp option on the mirror, but clearly this is a stock mirror, and clearly there is a temp readout on the mirror as it displays “100°F°C” in the same location that it displays the compass reading.
