RSX-type S motor info
I am going to purchase a 02-04 RSX-S, hopefully i get an 04. Are those models the same im assuming everything about them would be the same except minor luxry items. Also i hear it has a K20 motor in it. Would there be a better motor to swap or is the stock motor for the RSX-S the best to turbo? ive seen something about a K20a can anyone tell me about that or can i get a link posted to a thread. i did a search couldnt really find much maybe i just suck at searching. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: RSX-type S motor info
let me look up some links for you but from what I believe I have read about the K series is the fact that they are actually harder to tune than a B or H or F so on so forth. And I also believe that they put a new motor in the RSX-s or modified it differently or something but I believe it started in the 04 edition. Again let me find some of the links I found
Heres the link http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/tech/0209ht_family/ that has a lot of info on modifying the K series |

Re: RSX-type S motor info
k20.org is a great site to find lots of info. there are lots of different things u can do to this motor to get lots of power out of it. i would first get the car and wait a while before u start modifing the car. get a feel for the car and learn how to drive it before you make it faster.
the k20a is the motor that comes in the integra type-r(jap version of rsx-s). it has more power and less emissions parts than the k20a2 in the rsx-s. it also come with a transmision with an lsd and a shorter final gear.i think the motor puts out 250hp or somewhere around there.

Re: RSX-type S motor info
Yeh i wasnt going to mod it for awhile i was just wondering cuz i saw a few racing videos on streetfire.net and some guy had that swap done. I was just trying to find something out so i could plan it for the future. So the K20a is a good swap you're saying right? Cuz if i am going to turbo the motor i dont wanna turbo the motor that comes with it when i could swap out the motor for a better one and turbo that.

Re: RSX-type S motor info
K20a and K20a2 are pretty much the same. K20a2 just has more emission related stuff and probably detuned a bit. Although many aftermarket manufacturer already make tons of performance add ons, if you are really interested in turboing (and have the cash to do so), one option is to go find yourself a K24 block. Then you can keep the K20 head with K24 block for higher boost. But IMO RSX-S as-is is a fun little car. You can also add turbo to the stock motor and have a fast-enough car. All up to you.

Re: RSX-type S motor info
k20a also has different cams ecu exhaust higher compression and i belive intake manifold and alot more differences. the k24 block would be your best option for boosting. due to the k20a higher compression boosting it wouldnt be that great of an idea compared to boosting the stock k20a2.

Re: RSX-type S motor info
Swapping out a k20a2 for a k20a would be one of the stupidest things you could possibly do with your money. Do research, your not going to turn this into an all out drag car so these swaps or slapping the a2 head on a k24 block just doesnt make any freaking sense. If you really want to swap the motor I have a k20a3 I will trade straight up with you, all you have to do is pay for shipping. 3 is bigger than 2, so it has to be better.

Read above article. Why wouldn't K20 head on a K24 block make sense? It makes more torque, more horsepower and even feeds on non-premium gas. What part of this mod does not make sense to you? |

Re: RSX-type S motor info
For a 20 year old guy who probably hasnt yanked an engine out of a car before, it makes no sense at all. Sure you can get more power out of it...but for the price it will cost to get a k24 bottom end and have the k20a2 head mated to it, it doesnt make much sense to waste his money like that when the guy isnt making an all out race motor.
